Twentythirtysomething Book Club (TTBC) Summer Selections

“Join Twentythirtysomething Book Club (TTBC), a DC Public Library book group for younger adults, for a summer of great reads!

In our June 25 selection, Teju Cole’s novel “Every Day is for the Thief,” a young Nigerian man returns to Lagos after living in New York City and, as he wanders the city and re-connects with various individuals, he considers his past, his future, and the state of his homeland.

Our July 23 selection is 2014 nonfiction title “On the Run: Fugitive Life in an American City.” Sociologist Alice Goffman spent six years in a disadvantaged Philadelphia neighborhood to produce this ground level look at how contemporary policing methods impact the lives of citizens, especially young African American men.

In our August 27 selection, Celeste Ng’s 2014 novel “Everything I Never Told You,” the mysterious death of sixteen-year-old Lydia Lee threatens to unravel her family, whose members are burdened already by past conflicts, ongoing tensions, and long held secrets.

All meetings will take place at breadsoda (2233 Wisconsin Ave. NW) and will start at 7:30 p.m.
