Recent average days on market for homes in Eckington is 14, so note that this property remained active for 97 days before going under contract. Given how tight inventory is, this is a great example of how it sometimes makes sense to look at inventory that has been hanging out for a while and not only the new listings that pop up and everybody flocks to. Real Estate Business Intelligence (RBI) reports that in March 2015, there was less than one month worth of supply of properties for sale in the Eckington neighborhood (aka super tight inventory).

Eckington is on the very west edge of the NE quadrant boundary, with neighboring Bloomingdale across North Capitol to the west. The two neighborhoods share part of the legal subdivision of Eckington, which can sometimes be confusing with listings for sale. Eckington is typically considered to be on the NE side and anything on the NW (the Florida/Rhode Island/North Cap triangle basically) is Bloomingdale.

Eckington amenities include the Harry Thomas Sr Rec Center, which has a lovely pool surround by green space. There’s not really a commercial strip within Eckington, however, the businesses along that part of the North Capitol Corridor are populating, including the long awaited Washington Firehouse Restaurant, and The Pub and The People. NOMA’s red line Metro is across from the south end of the neighborhood.

The listing agent for this sale was Qin Zheng with Fairfax Realty, Inc. Mansour Abu-Rahmeh with TTR Sotheby’s International Realty represented the buyer in this transaction.
