Volunteers needed for Columbia Heights Community Marketplace- starting April 12!

“Calling All Prospective Volunteers!

Want to meet new friends and help make healthy food available to everyone in the Columbia Heights community? Then come join us as a volunteer for the 2014 Columbia Heights Community Marketplace season!

As we gear up for the opening of market season, we are looking for new volunteers to help us run the farmers market each Saturday. Market volunteers spend the majority of their time helping to administer our matching dollars program for recipients of SNAP (formerly known as food stamps), WIC, and other federal nutrition programs. The program allows us to match spending of federal nutrition programs up to $10, so that when a person spends $10 of their benefit, they receive an additional $10 to spend. This is beneficial both for the customer and for the vendors at the market. Additional volunteer responsibilities include set up and tear down, conducting customer surveys, helping vendors staff stalls, conducting community outreach, and other miscellaneous tasks. Volunteers are asked to commit to 1 or more 3 hour shifts, either 8 am-11 am or 11 am- 2 pm, per month. We are especially in need of *fluent* Spanish speaking volunteers.

If you have an additional specialized skill to offer that doesn’t fit in the above, such as fundraising or marketing, also let us know; there are many other ways to get involved.

Interested volunteers are invited to our pre-season training session on Sunday, April 6 at 5 pm at the Park Triangle Apartments Community Room (2nd Floor), 1375 Kenyon St NW.

This will include a general information session about the market as well as a brief orientation about volunteer duties, and will last around an hour. Snacks and drinks will be provided. If you are interested in attending, please send your RSVP to [email protected].”

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
