Taller Power Lines?

“We live in Northern Petworth, and I have noticed a lot of streets getting new, taller power line poles. Unfortunately our street has not. I think the taller poles look much better and help the streets look less cluttered and junky by raising the lines a bit. Does anyone know if there is a way to find out if the city is doing this in the entire area or how they determine where to do it?

Separate comment, Id also love to see them alternate the phone and power lines poles – we have electric directly in front and phone directly in back, I wish they would have staggered placement in front of houses it so we would have one wire free outdoor area. Seems pretty logical to me! Also both Pepco and the telco’s have done a shameful job of maintaining the lines. There are tons of wires hanging off or wrapped around. My guess is renters moved and accounts terminated, but they really did a crappy job keeping the lines clear.”
