Looks nice, but I only cook in Sino-Soviet styled kitchens…

It’s not bad and the price seems pretty decent. I can’t picture exactly where this is, though.

The 3rd bedrooms is tiny (they seem to have it set up for a tiny person, too, heh). I’m not sure it qualifies as a bedroom – if memory serves me right, it needs to have a door, a window and a closet?

Anyway, I think the space is livable, not extravagant. Someone might want to make changes (paint different colors, etc, upgrade bathrooms or kitchen). Listing the kitchen as Euro does nothing to impress me; all it tells me is that it is going to be small.

  • Seems like an ok price for that area. crimemap for that area is low, sorta close to metro, easy access to n capitol.

Dig the fireplace-in-the-corner of the living room. Like the kitchen/dining room combo, but would have perhaps preferred a back porch/deck to that mudroom/”office”; esp since the trees in the back yard would have to be torn out to add a deck, if desired.

seems like this place was built for people who really like to take baths. don’t mind the master BR being the back, but i think i’d prefer a sunroom to a private bathtub.

Agree with some of the other criticisms – but man, that attic is awesome! One thing I missed growing up in a contemporary home…love it.

Yes — I too love the attic.

  • I think it’s a good deal, and I like that location. Isn’t right across the street from the entrance to the old soldiers home/Lincoln cottage? That’s a pretty area and high up.

I think that’s a lot of house for $429K—2.5 bedrooms, not finished but clean, useable basement and attic, small but functional kitchen.

I agree about the master bath. I really don’t like renos that convert the sunporch to a bathroom. It’s just too much. Plus, do they really use the jacuzzi? Other than that and the atrocious blue paint, I think it’s a decent buy.

    That attic is badass.

I think it’s a good deal and the price is right. It’s a nice place. There are a few things that are a little awkward about it that you’d need to be okay with but nothing so egregious that would make it a dealbreaker.

I love trees like nobody’s business but all those trees did make me think… does anyone know if you would have to anticipate any structural damage from those trees in the future? I’m not talking about them falling on the house but from the roots or something else? Just curious.

First impression: Eh… only one shower? Being honest, that is a serious weak spot. Baths are luxuries in this day an age. How many people run a bath to get ready for work in the morning? Its such a strange choice because you could easily have fit both in that space if you maximized your space.

But in general, the house has lots of potential. I think a refinished master bath, a finished basement, and potentially installing some carpet in the attic and making it an exercise space (is there room?) could put this over the 500k range.

I think it will close somewhere around the list price, maybe 424,900.

Incidentally, how on earth does an agent come up with a list price that ends in 923? They really want that extra 23 bucks, huh?

There are two showers: there’s a separate one in the master bath (it’s behind the door, you can see the shower’s glass door and there are towels hanging on it), and then one in the full bath. The one in the basement is just a toilet it looks like, hence the 1/4 bath in the posting.

Understood. Missed it the first time. On second look, I see it.

It is pretty awkward though. Its such a huge space, I would think this is ripe for a renovation that could make this a great master suite.

I think the upgrades are really cute, particularly those glossy-front cabinets in the kitchen. Attic is a really unique feature, too! Also, the outdoor space looks like it has a lot of potential. I say good deal.

  • gd price for that amount of house in that condition, methinks. I doubt it’ll be on the market very long.
