Earlier today (Tuesday), I happen to hear the street sweeper coming down my street (R NW in Dupont) and looked out to see him passing by (thankfully, all of the cars were moved). He left behind a trail of leaves so he backed all the way up to the start and made a second pass. There was still a little debris left so he backed up again and made a third pass – the street is totally clean now! “Dear PoPville,

I always thought that DC merely threw away its recyclables, but it was done behind the scenes. Today, the secret is out. Both green and blue bins dumped in same compactor. According to our maintenance man, it’s the second week in a row DC sanitation has done this. The excuse? “Not enough manpower, not enough trucks.” This was the answer provided by DC Sanitation worker.”

Good news from DC Department of Public Works:

“DPW is awaiting the delivery of 96-gallon trash super cans.

We expect to receive a significant delivery in mid-September which should be sufficient to address all existing requests. We apologize for the inconvenience and sincerely thank you for your patience and understanding.”
