Where to Compost?

Hello everyone,
Does anyone know of a place I can bring my compost? The community garden at Hill East doesn’t accept compost. Thanks!

Hi!  I recommend using Fat Work Compost.  They’re a local business that provides a smell-free bin for all of your compostables.  The bin is picked up every Tuesday and brought to a farm in Maryland.  The company even brings you high-quality dirt in return if you have a yard.  It costs $25 per month but it’s worth every penny if you’re looking to do your part for the environment.  Plus, the owners are super nice and accommodating.

You can also drop your compostables off for free at Common Good City Farm in DC’s LeDroit Park neighborhood: http://commongoodcityfarm.org/getinvolved/composting

There’s also Compost Cab: http://compostcab.com/

Community gardens either don’t compost (for fear of attracting pests) or don’t accept compost (because they can’t be sure what you’ve got in yours).  The businesses accept anything — meat, bones, dairy, etc. — so that might be the way to go, if you don’t mind paying.

Thank you all so much for your help!
