What's your favorite and/or most hated grocery store in DC?
I live near 14th and U and have a huge amount of variety when it comes to shopping for groceries. I was thinking about which place was most awesome compared to other stores and why and wondered what everyone else thought about their options.
Being that I’m located where I am, I have Yes!, Trader Joe’s, Streets Market & Cafe, and Whole Foods all relatively close. Harris Teeter isn’t too far either and if I needed bulk, I could always haul up to Target in Columbia Heights.
Which grocery store do you love and which grocery store do you hate (or love to hate) and why?
For me, it’s Trader Joe’s hands down for best (cost effective, general high quality, seemingly happy workforce, and some nice novelty stuff) and the Columbia Heights Giant for worst (general state of the place, lack of quality products, and poor customer service). Streets Market & Cafe is pretty cool (I like it better than Yes!), but I don’t know how well it will do when duking it out with Yes! and TJ’s. The store that I love to hate is Capitol Supermarket. It’s got some good stuff, but can be a little rough depending on who’s loitering outside.
