Vandalism @ Sasha Bruce House

Hi all,

I live on Maryland Avenue NE and yesterday noticed someone had vandalized the Sasha Bruce House, most likely on Saturday night. On the second story someone had spray painted a bunch of swastikas. The Sasha Bruce House is a group home providing help and guidance to homeless teenagers. If you’re interested, the Washington Post did a great piece on it a few months ago. The vandalism is horrible, and has left me with a feeling of uneasiness- being in a liberally dominant environment like DC has made me feel safer and away from hatred associated with Donald Trump, but this isn’t the case anymore.

Here’s my question, and it feels a little silly- what can I do? I’m donating money to the charity on their site but am wondering if anyone knows how vandalism gets dealt with in DC. Is the home in charge of paying for it to be removed? Does it make sense to call and ask?

Unfortunately, it is the homeowner’s responsibility if they cannot identify the vandals. Hopefully they have insurance. It certainly doesn’t hurt to call and ask how you can help; donations are a good start.
