Two rooms in 3 room house in May/June – would there be interested families?
Both of my housemates are moving out in the near future – one for grad school, the other in with her boyfriend. I recently had my sister visit with her two smallest children, and I realized that I’d really like to live with a family.
It’s a pretty sweet setup – the main floor and upper floor of a rowhouse, recently renovated, less than five minutes walk to The Coupe, KBC, Meridian Pint, etc. Ten minutes walk to the Georgia Ave metro, 15 to Columbia Heights.
The main floor is all living space – kitchen (gas stove, dishwasher, wine fridge and wine rack). There’s also a substantial dining room and living room, latter with fireplace. And a half bathroom. There’s two parking spots out back and a raised bed for gardening, in a fenced backyard with barbecue.
The first of the two rooms soon to be vacant is the large master bedroom, with lots of light, ceiling fan, ensuite bath with jets in tub, and walk in closet. The second bedroom is smaller with a substantial closet, good light and currently shares the second upstairs bathroom with the third bedroom (mine.)
Floors are hardwood throughout, the landlady is very responsive, central air and heat. Also, room for a cat too, a housemate currently has one.
I am 38, remain good friends with many former housemates. I’ve got a fair number of extracurriculars and seldom have houseguests – this was the first time my sister visited in over 7 years. I do have friends over supper occasionally, and host a discussion group every couple of months or so.
Currently these two rooms rent for $1200 and $1000, respectively. I pay $1000 myself. Would a couple with a child be willing to pay $2200 for this arrangement?
What do you all think? If you know interested families, I can be reached at jenbru at hotmail dot com. I can also provide pictures on request.
