Tailor recommendations for shortening jeans

I have a pair of jeans that need to be shortened. Anyone have experience with this? I know there are suit/pants recommendations but haven’t seen any on denim as I know hemming jeans is a little more complicated…

VIP Taylor @ 1200 G St NW does great work. I’ve had jeans taylored there. They are kind of expensive, but everything I’ve taken there comes back looking great. Ask them to do an “original hem.”

I just had a brand new pair of jeans tailored at Georgetown Valet at 13th and Mass. The owner, Jamie, is very nice, and her staff does great work. It was $24, so perhaps a little pricey, but nice work.

here’s a free class that’s teaching how to hem your own jeans. http://knowledgecommonsdc.org/classes/hem-your-jeans

Besides JD using VIP, are any of the other recommendations for jeans KEEPING the original hem?  The reason I ask is this is a pair of jeans I bought off ebay that are no longer made. I wore out my original pair I bought in London 3 years ago so I need someone who won’t screw it up as I have been scouring ebay for over a year for the right size…

He may be in Reno, but I think this is your guy: http://www.imdb.com/character/ch0011699/

I take all of my tailoring to Christopher Kim at 20th and M. The man works miracles.
