Suggestions for family photo shoot locations

I am taking family photos for a friend (a couple with 2 kids). Other than Meridian Hill Park, what are some other DC locations that people can think would be good for this? I’m hoping for a place easy to get to and not so crowded that every shot has a stranger in the background.

Any suggestion is appreciated!

How about the Bishop’s Garden at the national cathedral? Really pretty and open to the public!

Do you want to keep it outside? The gardens surrounding Dumbarton Oaks are beautiful and have varying backdrops (grape arbors, steps, etc.).

Also, the grounds of the Franciscan Monastery in Brookland are lovely and also not terribly crowded.

Franciscan Monastery? Lots of pics in PoP’s post today. It’s just a few blocks from the Brookland metro.

Arboretum – you’ll need a car get there but and it can be crowded but it’s usually pretty empty early in the morning.

Roosevelt Island – lots of trees and you could get shots with the city in the background.

Botanical Gardens is right next to the Capitol and the Mall and has a lovely outdoor area with a small pond and rose garden.

Arboretum is large with lots of different areas/looks.
