Topic: Realtor recommendations?

Hi, I’m looking for a buyer’s agent, ideally someone very familiar with Logan/Shaw/U St. I’m particularly interested in someone who is pretty available on short notice, provides good advice, and who works for a large company (might be aware of things before they are the market, etc). Has anyone worked with someone like that? Thank you!

I have a FANTASTIC Agent to recommend: When I bought my house in Shaw/Logan Circle I used Andrew Adler with Sotheby’s and he was fantastic; he grew up in DC and has lived here for 35-something years so he knows every inch of the city. Over the several months that I was looking, Andy must have taken me to 50 open houses (many on the very first day they were listed or before anyone even knew they were available), he was amazing with putting together offers and making sure I wasn’t overpaying (especially when I was in love with a house and wanted to go way too high), he even put me in touch with a great lender who was able to close in 14-days…Bank of America told me 60+ at the time! I have referred friends and several clients to Andy and he has made me look very good. There’s not enought good things to say about the experience and I will definitely use him when we look to move. His contact info is below, or feel free to contact me for additional information, good luck in your search!

I highly recommend Ron Graham at Keller Williams. He too grew up in DC, in Columbia Heights/Petworth, and knows the city like the back of his hand. He took us to see houses in many different neighborhoods, so we could get a feel for what was out there, and really helped us find the house situation that was right for us. He definitely thinks about the happiness of his clients, not just the commission he’ll make. Three years after our house purchase, we’re still friends – he’s an all-around great person, and a great agent.

I used Tammy Britt– and so do a lot of people I know. She knew all about areas from the west end to shaw and helped me find the right place. It helps that she knows a lot of local agents to she always gets a quick response to questions. She also lives in the area.

I bought in the U Street area in early 2011 and had a fabulous experience with Koki Adasi, with Long & Foster. He also lives in the area, so he was incredibly knowledgeable on the neighborhood, and was overall just a pleasure to work with. He’s been very involved both locally and nationally in the industry, so his connections to other realtors was a huge benefit in our process. My husband and I actually ended up getting a place that hadn’t yet been listed, due to Koki’s connections to other agents.

Congrats on buying! I highly recommend my current landlord Adrian Dungan. He is a realtor through Coldwell Banker Georgetown and specializes in Logan/Shaw, U st, Columbia Heights, Petworth, and Brookland. He also lives in the area and is extremely reliable/responds quickly to requests.
I’m in no position to buy right now, but if I were, I would definitely go through Adrian!

Best of luck!
I used the Martin-Jeff Group, Coldwell Banker, to sell my condo in Logan Circle and purchase a home in Petworth. They’ve worked in the Logan Circle area for many years and are extremely knowledgeable on the market/area. They especially helped me deal with fire damage to my condo just prior to closing. They were amazing. 202-471-5203.
I would recommend Nate Ward from Rock Creek Realty (http://www.rcrdc.com). We bought a house in Eckington and though it’s our first home and been a long process due to the seller, we’ve been thoroughly advised and been kept up to date since our initial viewing. 202-449-8525
I bought my condo short sale with Cher Castillo Freeman of Sky Real Estate. Her offices are on North Capitol. I will actually be selling the unit with her also and purshasing a larger one next year. She walked me through the 6 month long short sale process without any hitches. I was a first-time homebuyer in DC then, and now I feel like I can tackle a short sale once again with no regrets because of her. Contact info below. Tell her Jade sent you!
I highly recommend the Sliwka Group. http://www.sliwkagroup.com/ I've worked with them on several house purchases and sales over the years and have always had a great experience. They take the time to find out what is really important to you in a house and even once talked me out of a place that I fell in love with that didn’t have several things that I needed because they knew it wouldn’t really work for me. Paul, Daryl, Josh, and David live very close to where you are looking and the office is at 1353 V STREET NW, so they definitely have the pulse of the neighborhood and what is coming available soon.
Carmen Fontecilla of Weichert Realtors, 301.908.6672, [email protected], helped me buy a place in Shaw/U street. Fantastic experience! Not pushy and knows how to operate in this competitive market. I think at least 25% of the places she showed me were not on the market and still being renovated by the developer.
