Need reference for OB/GYN in DC

My husband and I found out recently that I am pregnant, and I need recommendations for an OB/GYN within the city limits. I have been seeing a specialist in Virginia for many years that does not handle pregnancy and delivery, and she does not have a lot of recommendations in the city. Can any other Popvillers out there help us out? Since we live in Petworth, we would prefer someone who is affiliated with Washington Hospital Center if possible. Thanks in advance for your advice!

Congrats! The midwives at WHC are great. My husband and I first met with Judith Krones, who came highly recommended to me. My husband was not really into the midwife thing, but after talking to her was totally for it. She answered all our questions, and has just a great nature in general. They are also a little more down to earth than the GW midwives which I appreciated. It’s all very similar to a typical OB experience (sonograms etc) and you deliver at the WHC. If you “risk out” of the practice they can recommend an OB at WHC and may be able to be present at your delivery as well.

Thank you for the feedback! I completely respect and applaud those that had great experiences with midwives. However, because of my medical history and the high probability that it is twins, we would prefer going straight to an OB/GYN.

I have been going to Dr Melancon at the Foggy Bottom location for years, but she is based out of Washington Hospital Center. i think she is very professional and a pleasure to work with. She answers all questions and is generally a nice person and great doctor. You can specify the office location when you schedule with her.

I’ve been going to Dr Bruce Bonn for years – he’s excellent. His office is at 23rd and M.

I love Dr. Sarafian and the staff at Foxhall:
Although she might not be taking new patients, the other doctors are great too. They are affiliated with Sibley hospital though.

Dr. Bonn is really great but does not do deliveries. Not sure about other’s in his practice though, they are all fantastic.

I agree with lauuraly, Foxhall is great and if Sarafian isn’t taking new patients then I would see Beckerman. Sibley is great place to deliver.
