MADE IN DC- Sell Your Locally Made Products At Ace!

ATTN Local Entrepreneurs! DC Ace Hardware “Made in” Programs Now Accepting Apps!

Looking to sell your awesome locally made products in a retail store? Locally owned and operated A Few Cool Hardware Stores will be launching their second season of the Made in DC program starting August 1st. To meet the demand for locally sourced products in their stores, A Few Cool Hardware Stores owners Marc Friedman and Gina Schaefer partnered with Think Local First DC to create the initiative, “Made in DC”. The program is intended to build, support and sustain businesses producing locally made products, and encourages entrepreneurship by showcasing the local DC creative economy.

The program’s success during its beta launch in April 2013 with local vendor “Tina Seamonster”, has led A Few Cool Hardware Stores to expand the Made in DC concept to their four Maryland based locations with their newest program, “Made in Maryland”. The 9 locally owned and operated Ace Hardware stores in DC and Maryland will dedicate a section of each store to showcase locally made products from a local entrepreneur. Applicants must reside within the DC or Maryland area to qualify for the programs, which is accepting vendor applications for the next launch in August.

The goals of the “Made in” Merchant programs is to get more locally sourced products into brick-and-mortar retailers. A Few Cool Hardware Stores will promote the program and chosen vendor via their marketing resources and in store signage for both programs. Think Local First DC will help member retailers find the right fit of MADE in DC products and will provide marketing materials and promotion to support after procurement. Applications for both initiatives are due by 5pm on Friday, July 5th. Send applications and inquiries to [email protected]. Details and application available at
