Like to sing? Free on Monday nights?

Our DC choir is looking for some new members!

The Runnymede Singers is a small chorus of amateurs who love to sing, with a range of musical skills from sight-readers to shower singers and a range of ages from student loans to AARP. We don’t require auditions. We are a relaxed group – the main goal is to work together to sing as well as we can and have fun doing it.

We work on seasonal/Christmas music in the fall and a huge variety in the spring — Italian madrigals, classical pieces, Gershwin, Berlin, Andrew Lloyd Webber, spirituals, and pop. Our conductor and pianist are professionals who help us learn and polish our performance.

Our rehearsals are held on Monday nights from 6:45 to 8:45 (with a cookie break in the middle) at First Baptist Church, 16th & O Streets NW (enter from the parking lot off 17th). We are not part of the church, but they rent a rehearsal room to us.

We do not sell tickets to our concerts. We perform at area retirement and nursing homes, and we also participate in an annual Christmas concert with two other area choirs and often have a friends and family concert in the Spring.

To hear more about us, listen to a piece that was done about us on NPR :…

We do contribute as we are able to cover the costs for the conductor, the pianist, the rehearsal room, and new music, etc. The average cost is about $150 per semester. Don’t let this stop you from joining us, though – some of us pay more than others, some less. We don’t want anyone to stay away because they cannot pay the whole amount.

If you want to have music in your life, whether you are an experienced, polished singer or you love to sing but haven’t in a while, you are welcome. If you are interested in joining, have more questions, or just want to talk to a member, please contact our choir director Erica by emailing singercat36 [at] gmail dot com.
