Interested in being a literacy mentor for struggling young readers?

Become more involved in your local community!
A child’s third grade reading scores can predict with 70% accuracy the likelihood they will graduate from high school.

Reading Partners provides an opportunity for volunteers from the community to give one 45 minute session each week to tutor one-on-one with an elementary school student.

Pick any 1-hour time slot that’s convenient for you between 9am and 5pm, Monday through Thursday (you are welcome to help more if able).

Reading Partners uses a very structured and easy-to-follow curriculum.

One-on-one instruction at the student’s reading level provides the opportunity for individualized academic attention and a healthy learning relationship with you, the volunteer.

Volunteers are, in turn, supported at all times by Reading Partners school site coordinators and staff.
We have particular need for volunteers at our Amos 1 campus in Petworth located at 1300 Allison Street, NW.
