Group Meeting Regarding Recent Shootings

I am heart-broken, frustrated, scared, and emotionally tired from the recent shootings that are taking place locally as well as nationally. With Thursday night’s shooting, which occurred at a Louisiana movie theatre, two women were killed by an individual who hated women, minorities, and liberals.

What can we do? What ideas and solutions can we discuss, address, and take action so that women and minorities feel safe going to a church, a movie, or our work? I have some ideas for D.C., and I would be eager to hear yours.

I will be organizing an open discussion at an U-Street location on Tuesday July 28th at 7:00pm, in efforts to discuss what DMV residents can do to address this gun and hate violence. This meeting is open to all and I encourage those who are interested in attending to please spread the word about it. I will provide the address to those who RSVP to [email protected]: please do so by Tuesday at 1pm.
