DC-specific (edible) gift to mail overseas?

Hi PoPville!  I need to send some presents to some family members in Japan.  I’m wondering if you have suggestions for some sort of DC-specific gift – I was hoping for something edible.  I think chocolates might hold up in transit, but cupcakes won’t.  Any ideas for me?

Ben’s Chili Bowl? I know they ship stuff but not sure how it’ll fare overseas.

chocolate chocolate on connecticut avenue sells chocolate replicas of dc monuments. they’ve been a big hit for me!

on of those chocolate models of the capitol building they sell at costco!

some DC brau?

Sending fresh food overseas makes it likely that the recipient will have to pay customs duties for it or won’t receive it at all.  Having lived overseas and gone through several sagas involving food innocently sent by well-meaning friends back home, I recommend sending either pre-packaged food or no food at all.  APO/FPO mail is an exception – the rules there are far clearer and more liberal.

This is easy….Mambo sauce

astronaut ice cream?

Uncle Brother’s Hot Sauce or DC Redbone hot sauce.
