Books for Wilson
The Wilson High School English Department is launching a drive to ensure that all Wilson students have a copy to take home of each book assigned as required reading. Although research has shown a strong relationship between book ownership and lifelong learning, DCPS ensures only that a set of books is available for classroom use. Wilson serves students from neighborhoods across the city, many of whom cannot afford the expense of purchasing a personal set of required reading.
There are two ways you can help:
1) Recycle books that are taking up space on your bookshelf. Many of the titles sought (see below) have been popular reads for adults as well as teens. Bins will be available in the Wilson lobby during school hours all summer.
2) Go to Amazon and purchase books off our wish list, and these will be sent directly to Wilson. http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/ref=cm_wl_search_1?ie=UTF8&cid=A1HZSDC5KFMK7F
