Topic Tag: lost dog
My neighbor & I saw a dog with no collar walking down Oakwood Ter in Mt Pleasant. Medium sized, black and white. He seemed very friendly. Was missing his collar. We pet him, but then he ran across 17th up the driveway of The Village apartment complex. These streets border on the park, so maybe he slipped away during a walk on the nearby trail.
I wanted to get the info & pic out there in case anyone recognizes him. 17th is a curvy street that could be very dangerous for a loose dog.
Friends found this adorable 5-7 lb dog near 7th and Quincy NW, near Petworth metro. She had been roaming the area for at least the past week, prior to 4/9. She is safe with us now. If anyone is looking for her, please get in touch. can respond to this post or through the CL post: https://post.craigslist.org/manage/5532744030/g5q4x
Found this lost pup this morning around 6th and K NE. About 20 pounds. We called animal control and he is hanging out in our under porch until they come. Let us know if he is yours or if you know who he belongs to.
Found at Georgia and Quincy NW last night around 10pm: Female Beagle (mix?), approx. 4-6 years old (total guess. Collar, but no tags.
Hi! This morning at 10th St NW and Randolph St NW some children were trying to capture a dog. I asked it if it was theirs and they said no, I told them I would get her to the shelter. I was able to coax the dog over and scoop her up. She came home with me briefly, but unfortunately as I have a cat, a no dogs allowed apartment, and as I was unable to care for the dog she had to be brought somewhere else. I had to bring her to the Humane Society. If anyone knows of anyone missing a small dog in Petworth she is at the Humane Society on New York Ave. She is very sweet, but was in rough shape and quite scared given the situation. She had no collar or identification tags. Below are images. Feel free to contact me for more details.
She is a small dog under 15 lbs is my guess, white curly haired.
I saw this cute little dog around 1:00 pm today (Monday, 3/23/2015). He was initially on Allison Street NW (Petworth) and then he turned onto New Hampshire at the corner of Allison, which is the way I was going also. I’ve never seen him before which is why I thought he might have gotten loose/lost. He did not seem homeless at all — he was in good shape and clean. He seemed a bit nervous and was just kind of trotting around like he was aimless and unsure of where to go or what to do. He would run from me and bark, but then he’d slow down and let me get close like he wanted help, then he’d run again. He seemed to want help, but I had an infant on me at the time so I wasn’t able to stop and inspect him, but he definitely wasn’t wearing a collar. A couple hours later I returned the same way and didn’t see him. I hope he made it back home! But if this looks like your dog and he’s missing, do reply here and we can exchange contact info. See attached photo.
City Dogs Rescue has a lost foster dog. Info. below and on flyer:
Carlton, male chi/beagle mix, brindle, about 25lbs. He was last seen at 34th St. and Ordway St. NW today 1/27/15. Please call number on flyer. Thanks!
Our dog, Finnegan, just ran away, at ~5:30PM Eastern time. He was last seen at 9th and Monroe St NE, in Washington, DC. He was running the Metro Branch Trail.
He’s a mix of rat terrier and cattle dog. Photos of him are attached. Any sightings or information will be extremely helpful.
* He’s likelier to come if you crouch down and beckon or whistle. Don’t run at him, and try to crouch and stay low if you get near him.
* He responds to “Finnegan”, “Finn”, and whistles.
* He is microchipped.
* He likes peanut butter, jerky, and other normal dog things.
Thank you so much for any help or information!!
At 5:30 AM today when I was walking my Dog I ran into the local newspaper delivery guy in my neighborhood. He had found a white pitbull puppy running across C st NE (right around 17th St NE). No tags but it looks like he was fairly well cared for. He’s thin but sweet and well mannered. He put him in his car and was driving around to see if anyone was out looking for him. He was planing on taking him to the Washington Humane Society later today.
If anyone lost a pitbull puppy – check in at the local shelters or respond and I can contact Anthony (the Newspaper guy – I know his route, he’s out every day) and find out where he ended up taking him.
Hi all. I found this dog at 12:30 on Sunday on Harvard between 13th and 14th. Please let me know if you recognize him! Could be her, actually, can’t tell what’s happening under all the white fluff…
We lost our black/white husky/shepherd mix named London. He is about 50 pounds. He is a rescue and is probably more scared of you than anything. He escaped around 12:00pm today around Cleveland park metro. If you see him please call or text Jacki at 773-575-7190.
With tonight’s low temperatures, we greatly appreciate your help in finding him.
Sorry for the spam, looking to get as many eyes on this as possible.
My dog has been lost since early July in DC. He is 15lbs, red (light brown) and white coat, one blue eye, one part blue and part amber eye, looks like a mini siberian husky or a fox. He ran out of my friend’s place in NE DC and has been spotted near Catholic University, the Brookland/ CUA metro, and most recently back in the neighborhood where he was lost, near Webster St. NE and 1st St. NE. However, there have been no reported sightings in 3 weeks, and we need your help. We are NOT giving up!! It is possible that someone has taken him in by this point and he could be anywhere. If you see any dog matching this description, even if with someone, PLEASE:
1) Do not chase or approach or call out to him! He is very skittish and will likely bolt. We want him to feel safe and stay put.
2) Call 202-681-1231 IMMEDIATELY. I do not care what time it is.
3) Keep your eyes on him and PLEASE follow him until I get there!! I will compensate you for your efforts. Remember as many details as possible (how did he look? was he injured? with someone? who? which way was he going precisely?) and please take a picture of him.
Substantial reward offered for information leading to his safe return. More information at http://www.facebook.com/findporterdc. Please like and share liberally!
