Local Businesses Aim for 20,000 Sales on Small Business Saturday

For this year’s Small Business Saturday, DC Shop Small and District Bridges have teamed up to bring together over 300 businesses in the D.C. area for an online shopping event: DC Shop Small Saturday.

On November 28, participating businesses will encourage residents to shop at their local small businesses to keep them in business during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The goal of this year’s event is to generate 20,000 transactions collectively from all participating businesses on Small Business Saturday. Shoppers will be encouraged to make as many purchases as they can at local shops, businesses, restaurants and more to prove that dollars spent within the community have a large and resounding impact. To incentivize shoppers, each purchase made at a small business on November 28 will enter them into a city-wide raffle, featuring a giveaway from 20+ local businesses totaling over $500. Participating brands include Shelter, Salt & Sundry, District of Clothing, Georgetown Massage, Nubian Hueman, Appointed Co and more.

“Small businesses are the backbone of the D.C. community,” said Mallory Shelter, DC Shop Small founder and owner of Shelter in the Union Market district. “Small Business Saturday is more than just a day — we hope that the DC Shop Small site and movement can show District residents how critical small businesses are, and encourage them to shop locally whenever they can.”

Brianne Dornbush, Executive Director of District Bridges, an organization that supports small businesses and invests in the local community, said, “DC Shop Small Saturday is one way D.C. residents can help their favorite neighborhood retailers and restaurants stay afloat during a turbulent time.”

Additional event sponsors are the Adams Morgan Business Improvement District, the Dupont Circle Business Improvement District, Eastern Market Main Street and the Georgetown Main Street.

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
