Foggy Bottom and Farragut West metro stations closed for Track Work this Weekend

“Reconstruction of the Metrorail system will continue over the weekend of January 27-29, 2017 with service adjustments on all six lines. Trains will operate as follows:

Buses replace Orange and Blue line trains between McPherson Square & Rosslyn, see below for details
Yellow and Green line trains will operate at regular weekend intervals
Red Line trains will operate every 9-18 minutes
Silver Line trains will operate every 15 minutes between Wiehle-Reston East and Ballston only

Red Line
Trains every 9-18 minutes | 10:00PM Friday until closing Sunday

Single tracking between Medical Center & Grosvenor to allow for joint elimination, grout pad rehabilitation, leak mitigation and rail, fastener & stud renewal.

Red Line trains will operate:

Between Shady Grove & Glenmont: every 18 minutes.
Between Farragut North & Silver Spring: every 9-10 minutes between 9:00AM-9:00PM

Orange Line
Buses replace trains between Rosslyn & McPherson Square | 7:00AM Saturday until closing Sunday

Orange Line trains will operate in two segments:

Between Vienna & Rosslyn every 15 minutes
Between McPherson Square & New Carrollton every 15 minutes

Foggy Bottom and Farragut West stations will be closed.

Free shuttle buses replace train service between Rosslyn and McPherson Square with intermediate stops at Foggy Bottom and Farragut West. Please add 12-15 minutes of travel time for each station stop.

Work performed: Fasteners, stud and rail renewal, grout pad rehabilitation, emergency call box replacement, communication cable installation and ceiling tile replacement.

Tap your SmarTrip card each time you enter and exit the Metrorail system. Riders traveling through the work zone will be charged for a single, continuous trip.

Silver Line
Trains every 15 minutes between Wiehle-Reston East & Ballston only | 7:00AM Saturday until closing Sunday

Silver Line trains will operate every 15 minutes between Wiehle-Reston East and Ballston only. Customers traveling to/from other stations should use Orange and/or Blue line trains to complete their trip. At Ballston, transfer between Silver and Orange line trains on the same platform.

Blue Line
Buses replace trains between Rosslyn & McPherson Square | 7:00AM Saturday until closing Sunday.

Blue Line trains will operate in two segments:

Between Franconia-Springfield & Rosslyn every 15 minutes
Between McPherson Square & Largo Town Center every 15 minutes

Foggy Bottom and Farragut West stations will be closed.
