Throughout the month of April, wannabe competitors can sing at any one of the participating karaoke nights to qualify to be passed on to compete in The Kostume Karaoke Invitational on the main stage at Rock & Roll Hotel on Thursday, April 30.
There will be cash, prizes, fame and GLORY!
Qualifying rounds at all participating bars throughout April, including:
Kostume Karaoke at Little Miss Whiskey’s – Wednesdays, April 1 & 15
Kostume Karaoke at Solly’s U St Tavern – Thursdays
Banana Cafe – Mondays
Super Funky Karaoke at The Wonderland Ballroom – Tuesdays
The Pinch – Tuesday’s, April 14 & 21
Bar 7 – Wednesdays & Saturdays
Millie & Al’s – Thursdays
The Ugly Mug – Thursdays
Dupont Italian Kitchen – Saturdays
With performers from District Karaoke
We are not holding talent auditions. We are looking for people who love to sing, have what it takes to entertain a crowd, and believe that karaoke is about having fun! As always: Drink up, Dress up and SING!!
This is the event we’ve been hoping for, where all of DCs best performers get on one stage and see who’s got it all. We hope you’ll try to win your way in to the competition, and we hope you’ll come cheer on the contestants when the big night finally comes around!
I live in Dupont Circle, near a small market that’s part of a large rowhouse that also contains a few apartments or condos. There is some ugly graffiti (not graffiti art) on the side of the building. It’s not profane, but it is ugly and large, with the word “Voyer” (sic, assuming that’s supposed to be “voyeur,” although I’ve seen it elsewhere, so perhaps that’s someone’s name or tag) written repeatedly–that’s it. A few months ago, someone crossed out the previous “voyer” word and then spray painted the same word, again, this time in blue.
This graffiti is the first thing we and our neighbors see on the street–it’s impossible to miss. My question is, as neighbors, is there anything we can do to compel the owner or owners of the building or the city to erase this ugliness? I see that the city will help remove graffiti (http://dpw.dc.gov/service/graffiti-removal), but it seems like the owner has to request it.
