Lost Dog in NE DC

Our dog, Finnegan, just ran away, at ~5:30PM Eastern time. He was last seen at 9th and Monroe St NE, in Washington, DC. He was running the Metro Branch Trail.

He’s a mix of rat terrier and cattle dog. Photos of him are attached. Any sightings or information will be extremely helpful.

About Finnegan:

* He’s likelier to come if you crouch down and beckon or whistle. Don’t run at him, and try to crouch and stay low if you get near him.
* He responds to “Finnegan”, “Finn”, and whistles.
* He is microchipped.
* He likes peanut butter, jerky, and other normal dog things.

Thank you so much for any help or information!!

Anyone know of anything developing at Monroe and 18th NE?

There is a small commercial zone there with only a few businesses and the bunch of vacant storefronts. Seems like it could a be nice spot sort of like where Upshur in Petworth is heading in a few years. Anyone of any rumors?

Big Changes Coming to Rhode Island Avenue NE & 14th Street NE

It looks like Brookland Manor may be nearing its last days. I ran across this article about a proposed overhaul of the housing complex and shopping center located on Rhode Island Avenue NE & 14th Street NE. As a new homeowner in this neighborhood, I’m excited.

Dear Popville — is this really happening?

My husband and I are in the process of purchasing our first home.

Our realtor has put a focus on the Edgewood and Brookland neighborhoods since it previously looked like you can still get a house for a reasonable price.

However we have been baffled by these two recent purchases:

Are we really looking at spending nearly $600,000 for an up and coming neighborhood? Have we missed some big announcement for something coming to the area? Are we ever going to find something in our price range of under $500,000 if we want to stay in the District?

We are becoming discouraged.

Pleasant Hill /Brookland – Any smell from Fort Totten Transfer Station?

Greetings all – We are considering buying in the Pleasant Hill area, immediately north of Catholic U and west of Brookland. Some have told us that the smell from the transfer station can get pretty intense, while others have said you’ll never notice it.

Does Popville have any current residents who can share their experiences, good and bad, as near neighbors of the dump? Thanks!
