Hi, my friend’s bike was stolen today outside of her office on M and 20th downtown. She just moved to DC for an unpaid internship as a graduate student and can’t afford to replace it, so I was hoping the PoP community might help and keep an eye out for it–especially if it shows up online.
Frankly, I’m shocked that someone could have gotten away with clipping a bike lock in such a high traffic area … the Golden Triangle BID should be concerned about this.
July 30th is World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, a day we set aside to remember and stand in solidarity with victims of human trafficking and modern day slavery. This year, Free the Slaves is hosting a Freedom Ride to commemorate the day, raise funds to fight trafficking, and spread awareness about the issue.
The event will be held at the Logan Circle Zengo Cycle from 3:00 to 3:50pm, and all proceeds will go to Free the Slaves. Ethical fashion brand Senhoa will be there too selling jewelry after the ride until 4:30!
We hope you can make it out for this fun event, but if you are unable to come, you can still contribute to the cause by “donating” a bike! Simply follow the link below to reserve a space, but register the name as “Donation.” 🙂

hey y’all, I had a custom bike – black frame, pink accents (crank, handle, seat), gold wheels and gold pedals. pretty unique looking as you can imagine. but, it was nabbed from a Dupont bike rack today around 4pm, I’m guessing my lock didn’t really do the trick. if anyone sees it or finds it, just lemme know here – I got notifications set up.
Hey all —
My bike was stolen from my locked gate/porch at my apartment in 16th st heights between the evening of 9/25 – morning of 9/26. Such a bummer. It’s pretty distinctive looking so I’m hoping it turns up on Craigslist or someone is able to spot it around town!
49cm 2010 orange Fuji classic track bike set up as a single speed with front and rear brakes. A fair amount of stickers on the frame covering up the logo. Nitto riser handlebars with blue Oury grips. Has a Giant quick release front wheel. White saddle. Attached are two photos. One is my bike (but with an older saddle and fewer stickers). The other is a stock photo of the bike model.
If you see it, give me a call at 617-584-6233 or e-mail me at [email protected]
Thank you so much!!
I wanted to ask if anyone sees a burgundy/tan Trek hybrid bike in the neighborhood with a padded seat, it may still have the front and rear LED lights on it and a broken gizmo on the handlebars that probably gauged distant at one point (it’s broken). The most identifying mark would be 1 of the 4 reflectors on the pedals are missing. Please contact me if you happen to see it.
If you’re missing a bike, please feel free to email me/respond with a description and any remarkable features and I’ll let you know if this is the bike. Appeared in my neighborhood on Sunday (around 4th and Taylor) and want to make sure it gets back home!
Someone stole my Blue 54cm Surly Long Haul Trucker
from in front of my house on Todd Place in Eckington late last week. Popped the locks and made off with it.
Please be on the lookout! I bought the bike for a long distance bike camping trip at the end of the summer and those plans are obviously now in jeopardy.
Bike is royal blue with a NASA sticker on the frame. Please message me if you see it around!
My road bike was stolen out of my storage unit yesterday near Mass Ave NW and 11th St NW. Please be on the lookout for it. Scott CR1, 49 or 50 cm, black and blue with white lettering, white tape around the handlebars. Unless they’re already taken off, there is also a rear rack, pannier bag, water bottle holder, and clip-in pedals. A photo is attached.
Last Thursday night 1/29/15 a black Honda Ruckus was stolen from 14th and Corcoran St. The bike was chained with the highest grade of Kryptonite motorcycle chain (NYC bike lock). Cut links of the lock were left on the ground. Their seems to be a well equipped thief with a diamond blade saw running around. If you happen to see a new black Honda Ruckus scooter in your neighborhood, please reach out.
Overnight, someone ran through the garage of my apartment and stole some bikes and a bunch of tires, maybe for mischief night? Who knows, but anyway, in the off chance that anyone spots a maroon-ish Nishiki Sebring with black handlebar tape, a red light on the back and a black one on the front – it’s stolen! There are some photos here as well. Anyone else have anything snagged or was my apartment alone in being unlucky?
…I know this might be a futile effort, but just hoping that the good of the internet can help keep their eyes peeled.
I left my bike locked in front of my office (M st Between 16 & 17) last night because I left my bike lights at home and I didn’t want to ride home in the dark. This AM my good ol’ faithful was missing — the Ulock had been cut by a person with superpowers or some nefarious device. Perhaps it was poofed like the 3% of the earth’s population on HBO’s The Leftovers. But I’m just not willing to accept that.
This. The bike that got me through years of art school, the bike that got me from downtown to my home in midtown one-hundred-million times, the bike that took me from Georgia to North Carolina on the dirty, shittily paved roads of the southern stretches of 95. The brakes are loose and the gears are a little weird by now, but hell, I’m so pathetically in love with the thing I’d even buy it back. “Just shut up and take my money,” I’ll say.
I’m sorry I always talked about how I didn’t like your sporty appearance because I do. I’m sorry for that one time that I rode you around the coastal highways too much and you got rust from the salty air. I’m sorry I left you behind that weekend and cheated on you with another bike, but mostly I’m just sorry that your gone. Please come back.
PS. I love you.
The bike is a Specialized green and white “Vita” hybrid, 27″ spoke wheels, thumb shift, quick release, gel seat for anyone who cares to help! I would GREATLY appreciate it.
My best friend and main form of transportation was stolen off of a bike rack at the corner of 13th and G St NW, in front of Macy’s, between 5:15 and 6:15 pm Monday, June 10th. This bike was a long-awaited gift from my brother and definitely my most prized (and utilized) possession. I will pay a $150 reward, if not more, upon her return. This picture is just for reference of exactly how my bike looks, but it is not a picture of my bike – there is no blue on mine: http://road-bikes.comparical.com/itemImg/d4951cc5-4340-4611-bbe1-9f4363325669.jpg

I am looking to see if anyone is interested in meeting up and forming a small group of riders who tries to meet (when available) after work or on weekends for bike rides in the 20-50 mile range @ a pace of 13-16 mph. I have done most of my riding solo this year, but have found I enjoy riding much better when it is with a group (doing the occasional weekend bike shop ride). I don’t ride all the time (maybe 1-2 times per week), but it is more fun riding in a group to have others pushing you and also so you can have a slip stream to ride longer.
I usually like to ride the NoVA trails (Mt. Vernon, Cutsis, W&OD) but am not opposed to CC and Rock Creek Park trails. I also don’t mind doing laps around Haines Point when I want to do something quick after work. If anyone is interested let me know.
