We lived in the Axiom(the building attached to the Jefferson) for 2 years, and we really loved it, but the rent increases of $200/month every time we renewed finally forced us out.
I will tell you this: The Jefferson had a deserved reputation while I lived there for being essentially extended college for well heeled capitol hill interns whose mommies and daddies paid for their first big city apartment. Their rooftop looked like a frat part every friday and saturday night, to the point where the building had to hire security for the weekends to keep the drunkeness and noise down.
That being said, the neighborhood is great. Justin’s Cafe is a great neighborhood bar when it’s not game day, and youre quickly on a first name basis with the staff. Yards Park is great for lounging or walking through at all hours, and is especially beautiful when lit up at night. There CaBi station immediately next to the apartments and it’s a quick 5 minute ride to Barracks Row, where we never had problems with dock blocking. Also, it honestly has to be one of the safest neighborhoods in the city(note: does not apply to SW south of M Street). Another benefit in the Jefferson/Axiom: We lived on the fifth floor, and the building was so well insulated I never once turned my heat on in the two years I lived there and the temp always stayed around 72, which was nice on the wallet considering the building is all-electric.
