My building in Columbia Heights recently allowed it. We can now have a motorcycle/scooter share a spot with a car if they both fit within the lines.
Before, we weren’t allowed to have anything but a single car in each spot. Because paying $20k for a parking spot means you still don’t own it and have to follow rules as to what you can put in it.
Check your HOA rules, they are the ones that are spelling things out for us. Nobody has ever mentioned fire code in the discussions. As far as I know, residents had been bitching about other people storing stuff in their parking space, so they limited storage to just one vehicle before there were some complaints (myself included).
