To be fair, it’s not exactly ‘forgetting’ about your car if you park it legally on the street for a few days. If you have a car, but not private parking, it’s a fairly reasonable thing to do. Also, fair enough if the city has an unexpected emergency and needs to move your car to make some repairs. What I do not quite get, though, is issuing a ticket. The driver does not seem to have violated any parking indications, so while I can see it might be necessary to move the car (and then alert him/her where it has been moved), I’m not sure why he/she should be ticketed for this. Also, the OP indicates that they parked on Wednesday night, and were ticketed on Thursday morning. Even in the situation you described on your street, where signs were posted in the morning, and DCWater returned 24hrs later to ticket and tow, if the OP said there were no signs on Wednesday night, seems unfair to ticket on Thursday morning! Sorry OP! That stinks!
