Does anyone know what happened last night with someone driving into the canal in Georgetown right at 3303 Water Street condos? My friend Debbie, who lives in Georgetown, posted these pictures last night on her walk home from dinner. How would someone even be able to do this? There isn’t even a road there.
An SUV hit a parked car (volkswagen sedan) and flipped over on the 1100 block of Columbia Rd NW. Apparently two adults and three children were in the car and have been treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Hope everyone comes out OK.
Found this lost pup this morning around 6th and K NE. About 20 pounds. We called animal control and he is hanging out in our under porch until they come. Let us know if he is yours or if you know who he belongs to.
I’m not sure what this guy did, but around 6:00 pm, Wednesday evening on F St. NW, this guy was being chased by Secret Service Police, and he managed to hit two moving cars, one car carry a family with a small child, and another car that seemed to be chasing this guy after being hit as well. The dude with the sunglasses is the guy being chased. Does anyone know what this guy did? I heard they may of started the chase from the White House!
At 8:15 this morning there was a car on fire at the intersection of 2nd & D St NW outside the homeless shelter.
Caught this just a few minutes ago- this taxicab was literally in flames. Luckily there is a fire station close by and it appears the driver was able to get out of the car. Pennsylvania was/ might still be blocked off from Washignton Circle to 20th Street.
The circle of giving back at its finest. The culinary students of WHALER’s Creation, a non-profit organization focused on mentoring foster youth from the ages of 18-21, will be cooking and serving a Thanksgiving meal to 400 students from National Collegiate Preparatory Charter School in SE DC on Tuesday, November 26th, at 12:00 noon. WHALER’s Creation has committed to reducing the statistics of homeless foster youth by giving them a support system and skills to ensure their independence after they have aged out of the system. This year, they have committed to make a difference by serving those who may not have a Thanksgiving meal otherwise. For more information, please contact Carrie Hood 917.971.3423 or [email protected].
For the last 30 minutes or so, a helicopter has been circling NW, sweeping searches with a spotlight. Having a devil of a time finding local news: anyone have any ideas as to what’s going on?
Petworth/Columbia Heights Neighbors! A community spring cleaning/trash pick up/ “CLASSY ACTION” is being organized for this Saturday, 9:00 – 11:00 AM. Meet at the Petworth metro station to grab trash bags and rubber gloves and radiate throughout the neighborhood to pick up litter and get it looking great for the new season. Thanks to ANC reps Zach Hartman and Vann-Di Galloway for helping organize and providing supplies (and especially to Zach for his inspiring idea of CLASSY* Action). Participants may also wish to bring brooms or dustbans (but not required).
*Citizens Living and Acting for Spotless Streets y’all (CLASSy).
If you can’t make it – pick up a few pieces of litter on the way to the bus, metro, Annie’s Ace Hardware, Qualia, Red Derby, or wherever your journeys take you this week! After all the big windstorms lately we’ve got a lot of trash blowing around, so every little bit helps.
I know ANC 1A held an update on the Bacon Funeral Home last week at their monthly meeting. The minutes just say:
“Deidre Lee, office manager of Bacon Funeral Home, gave a status update on the business’ construction plans, the status of its condemnation hearing, and answered community questions,” which frankly doesn’t say much. Did anyone attend and find out more about what is going on?
My basement apartment on Biltmore Street in Adams Morgan was broken into this past Friday, August 3 sometime during the day. The door was completely kicked in into two pieces. TV and laptop were stolen. Just a heads up in case someone is targeting the neighborhood. If anyone knows anything or might have seen anything, feel free to speak up.
I was walking down 14th St. on Tuesday afternoon, and there was some pandemonium going on at the BP on 14th and Euclid. There were probably 5-7 cop cars in the parking lot, and there appeared to be someone in handcuffs. However, I can’t find a single mention of it in DC news. Any idea what went down? Thanks!
I was walking with my mother down 14th street towards Spring Rd. in Columbia Heights, and saw an intense fight across the street in front of La Cabana. It looked like two guys were fighting two other guys, throwing chairs and tables at each other, and then the fight escalated to a man pulling out long sticks/sharp objects from his truck bed and ended up stabbing one of the men.
Cops shortly arrived.
I grabbed my mom and ran out, not sure if others would come and the fight further escalate.
Does anyone have the back story on what happened? Is the guy okay? I just hope no one else got hurt and that the families and people around are okay.
Most definitely the scariest sight I have seen in DC.
Just found this, thanks to PoP, but anyone know of an update??
