Forum: Food and Drink
I have been charged with planning an event for my firm, and I was wondering if anyone had any venue suggestions that are a bit more outside of the box.
We have done plenty of events at hotels, but I would like this event to be a bit more youthful. I do not work in the DC area, so I could use some help with venue suggestions. My only requirement is space for 30 – 50 people and some AV capabilities. The event will be in early November in the evening.
For the right venue we can make any budget work.
Any help is very appreciated!

The Hilltop Bar & Restaurant
March 13 at 6:16pm ·
We’ve had a lot of random passersby and almost as many FB messages asking when we’re really, actually going to finally open… we’re shooting for late May (June 1st at the absolute latest). See you then!
This must be the slowest opening in the history of DC bars.

I am hosting a bachelorette party on a Thursday night in May and am planning to go out on U Street. Any recommendations for the best bars & clubs to go to? Probably will start out with some lower-key bars for drinks and then want to end up at places we can dance and be a little crazier as it gets later. What are the best places to hit? Also, considering starting with dinner somewhere. I will have a group of about 15. Any places in the U Street area that can accommodate a group that size that would be fun? Thanks!
Anyone know what’s set to take place of the old rib pit? It looks like new business licenses have gone up in the windows. The lights were on the other night as if people were fixing it up. And now, ta-daaah, it’s orange instead of yellow! Anyone know what’s happening?
Has anyone heard anything new on the Latin American Wine Bar slated to replace Riyad market? Is this still happening? And when will it be open?
Hi- Now that Spring is approaching, what are some great dog friendly restaurants, bars and shops in DC? I know the CVS in Chinatown is dog friendly along with Irish Channel and Alba’s on Wednesdays for HH. Any other favorites? I wish DC was a more pet friendly city, but I’ll take what I can get!
I live on Keefer Place. For more than a year now, they’ve been working on converting the former Tibetan shop on the corner of Keefer and Georgia Ave. into a coffee shop. Does anyone know what’s taking so long? Did they run out of money or something?
I’m trying to plan my own tour of H street with a few friends this weekend. I’ve been to Star and Shamrock, Biergardenhaus, Little Miss Whiskeys and Rock and Roll hotel but what others would you suggest we stop at for a drink and maybe an app or two along the way?
I once had a canary melon. It was delicious. I’d like to find one again. Anyone know where I can find a canary melon in the DC area? Thank you
Anyone know of any fun places for Wednesday night karaoke other than Hill Country?
Does anyone happen to know where one could buy Girl Scout cookies around DC? I wasn’t lucky enough to sign up for cookies at my workplace and now I’m seeing boxes of cookies being delivered to everyone at the office and am supremely envious! Please tell me I haven’t missed the chance!!
Does anyone know what’s the deal with Fairmont Market on 11th and Fairmont? It’s been closed for the past four months. Yeah, it was expensive and the owner kept hours, but it was close.
I am trying to stock up my favorite squash and can’t seem to find kabocha squash lately…anyone know of a place that has a good supply or where I can look? The Whole Foods near me (I’ve checked 3 now…no longer seem to have any).
