There’s a ton of local theater in the area. Any fave theater venues to attend?
Also, are any of the local universities ‘the’ theater university? I have noticed in my home state that there was a huge disparity between the quality of the theater departments at different universities.
Nobody can complain that there’s never anything to do in DC. But sometimes it feels like a full time job to find out about everything that’s happening.
PoPvillagers seem especially plugged into their town, so my question for PoPville is: how do you find out about events and happenings or keep track of what’s going on? What are your best sources?
I’m thinking especially about smaller or quirkier events (tango lessons at the Argentine embassy, speaker at a bookstore), but also city-wide events that get some news coverage (e.g. Cherry Blossom Festival). Bonus points for identifying those resources that eliminate the need to sign up for 100 listservs or monitor a large battery of websites!!
I know Arlington Cinema and Draft House used to show The Walking Dead on their big screen.. I was hoping to find something similar in the area (DC, MD or VA) that does this for Breaking Bad. I don’t have cable and neither do any of my friends 😀
So, it’s almost football season. I’m a huge New England Patriots fan and I have a bunch of my dude friends in for the season opener (Sept 7th). I live in Eckington and I’m trying to find a sports bar that can be my new home on Sunday afternoons. It need not be only a New England sports bar. The things I’m looking for are:
1) a bar that can dedicate a TV to the Pats
2) a bar that that will have the sound on for said TV
3) a decent menu
4) a place where I can get reliable seating and a TV without having to get there hours in advance.
Thoughts and ideas?
In four years of going to the Smithsonian National Zoo I’ve never seen it. Anyone ever seen it (and if so, when)? Its enclosure is right on Olmstead Walk, off Connecticut Ave past the cheetahs. Always seems empty.
My birthday is this weekend and we are throwing a party at the house. I live in Trinidad and I’m having trouble finding anyone reasonably close that sells kegs? I would prefer not to drive to Tenley Georgetown. Anyone have any suggestions?
My name is Sabrina and I am the owner of Ma Ma’s Southern Cuisine located at 3118 Georgia Ave. NW and I asked myself, how can we business owners make things better for our communitie(s) and my thought was to ask the people within the community. Although my job is to satisfy all my customers whether in or outside community I would like to hear some suggestions from within so that I can better serve you.
Does anybody have any brilliant suggestions for a non-debaucherous, co-ed, early-summer bachelorette party in DC? It would be the night before the wedding festivities start, hence the requested lack of debauchery (and hangovers). I’d been thinking of trying to rent a hotel suite somewhere that has good food and cocktails, but most of the places I’m thinking of are pretty expensive, and we don’t actually need a place to stay; still, just “going out” for the evening doesn’t seem quite special enough.
Would love any ideas folks might have! Thanks, PoP-ville!
I was wondering if any of you had any suggestions for 80s cover bands to play my wedding this summer. Obviously some bands can be hit or miss when they actually play so I’d greatly appreciate any feedback you all may have.
Any recommendations? I am looking for a karaoke place on the weekend in DC for my birthday. I leave near Petworth, so anywhere nearby would be appreciated, though I was thinking of going out on H Street. Thanks!
i guess i shouldn’t be surprised that a real estate-centric site that features overpriced rentals and flipped houses that only the 1% can afford would have romney ads.
honestly, do they even need to run political ads in dc? i feel like the vast majority of people who live here made up their minds about the election eons ago. ad revenue is ad revenue i guess.
i’ve given up on teasing myself with expensive sh*t anyway, even if it is merely for reference purposes. smell ya later PoPville.
Anyone know if there are any bars/restaurants etc where people can watch the Olympics opening ceremony in DC Friday night?
My dog and I need some relief from the heat this weekend, but I can only seem to find inflatable pools online at local stores. Does anyone know where I can find a small (6 feet in diameter, 1 foot tall, give or take) hard plastic pool (Disney characters optional) in the District? Thanks.
