A new Tory Burch store has opened up in Georgetown. Their website says:
“Tory Burch is an American lifestyle brand that embodies the personal style and sensibility of its CEO and designer Tory Burch. The collection, known for color, print and eclectic details, includes ready-to-wear, shoes, handbags, accessories and beauty.”
And I missed the October opening of TJ Maxx in the former Filene’s Basement space in Tenleytown:
“PICTURE RESTORATION HARDWARE. GORGEOUS SUNFILLED HOME WITH 18 WINDOWS, 9FT CEILINGS, UPDATED KITCHEN AND BATH, FRESHLY PAINTED, PARTIALLY FURNISHED, COVERED OUTDOOR DECK WITH GRILL SPACE. AMERICAN UNIVERSITY PARK, LOWER LEVEL SUITE WITH BACK ENTRANCE, 4 BLOCKS TO FRIENDSHIP METRO REDLINE. WALK TO CHEVY CHASE SHOPPING, WHOLE FOODS, MOVIES & PARKS. PETS CASE BY CASE. PARKING. SHOW ANYTIME.”
“At Mazza Gallerie, a T.J. Maxx will move from next door to fill the vacant Filene’s storefront, according to permits issued in early July.”
and they also say the Filene’s space at the National Press Building (529 14th Street, NW) will be filled by a Marshalls. Still no word on who is coming to the 1133 Connecticut Ave, NW space pictured above. Stay tuned.
“Light-filled, semi-detached 4BR 2BA house in AU Park. Living Room features double exposure. The Dining Room has room for large family gatherings and opens to a sunny den. The kitchen is in good condition. Upstairs are 3 bright BRs & 1BA. Wood Floors throughout. LL w/ in-law suite/rec rm. Outdoor space! The location is superb offering a quick walk to the Friendship Heights Metro & Shopping!”
Was in Mazza Gallerie over the weekend and all of the window space at the old Filene’s space is now covered with heavy paper. It appears that interior demolition in the space is underway. Checked the DC PIV system and see that a demo permit has been issued for Mazza Galllerie and a building permit is pending. No signs on the space regarding a tenant.”
Filene’s Basement closed their DC stores back in Nov. 2011. They had three DC stores located at 5300 Wisconsin Ave, NW in Friendship Heights; 529 14th Street NW in the National Press Building and 1133 Connecticut Ave, NW (pictured above) near Farragut North. Updates when the new tenant(s) is known.
The new neighborhood restaurant will serve Tex-Mex favorites and Mi Cocina classics like the Tacos “De Brisket”, Sunset Fajitas, and Rico Salad. Mi Cocina honors long time employees, family members and personalities that have been a part of the restaurant’s unique history by naming menu items after them, sharing their culture with generations of Texans that have dined there since the first location opened in 1991.
At The Collection, a stylish and relaxed interior will accommodate 155 in an open dining room.
You can see their menu here. Hours will be Sun – Thu 11am – 10pm; Fri & Sat 11am – 11pm.
5310 Western Ave. NW (Wisconsin and Western Ave, NW.)
Back in Feb. we learned Tynan coffee had closed in Friendship Heights and would be replaced by a Le Pain Quotidien.
From an email:
Our brand new store is the 13th one in the DC area, and is located at the Shops of Wisconsin Place, an urbane lifestyle center in Chevy Chase, Maryland. We occupy a part of the open plaza next to Bloomingdale’s, with large outdoor patio seating. Guests can enjoy our boulangeire fare with handmade organic bread, pastries, tartines, soups and salads. We stay true to our sustainable roots by incorporating eco-friendly features like LED lighting, recycled cast-iron arched windows and refurbished church pew seating.
