Thanks to all who passed on the rumor from UrbanTurf last night saying that Call Your Mother could be coming to the former Little Red Fox space (5035 Connecticut Ave, NW.) I’ve been sitting on this scuttlebutt since Friday because I’ve been trying to get confirmation from Call Your Mother (in the past they’ve been quick to respond to my queries.) My guess is that, if true, Call Your Mother will not announce until Little Red Fox’s last day on December 23rd so as not to overshadow their last days. Alas, since I keep getting messages from folks asking – I will also share the potentially fantastic yet at the same time truly bittersweet news. The sadness about Little Red Fox closing is still too fresh to be truly overjoyed. But, if true, when the dust settles, a good bagel sandwich should help ease the pain a bit. Read More

Little Red Fox shares in their IG this morning:

“Dearest Friends & Neighbors,

After more than 9 wonderful years, we will be closing our doors at the end of this month. December 23rd will be the last day of service at Little Red Fox and Sugar Fox.

This is not a business decision. Our little neighborhood operation has maneuvered around every bump and turn and continues to thrive thanks to our incredibly hard working staff, our incredibly supportive community, and countless regulars who visit us almost every single day. This is a personal decision by us, store owners Matt and Jena. In order to address complicated health issues and prioritize the well being of our family, we’ve had to make the very difficult decision to close. Read More

BA asked at 8am: “any clue what is happening in Forest Hills that multiple Secret Service vehicles are responding up Connecticut Ave? Multiple vehicles separately flying up Conn Ave with lights flashing.”

From MPD: “MPD members are responding to a shooting in the 3000 block of Garrison Street NW. More details and an on-scene media briefing will be forthcoming.”

Update from MPD:

killmoenews reported:

“SHOOTING — Peruvian Embassy
3001 GARRISON ST NW one individual is shot and 2 secret service agents are being checked out. Don’t know if this is an officer-involved shooting.”

From the National Park Service:

“After years of intensive planning, design, permitting, and coordination, the Soapstone Valley Park Sewer Rehabilitation project is about to begin!

Beginning on Friday, February 11, 2022, DC Water contractors will begin site visits to complete survey work in the Soapstone Valley Park area. They will stake out the Limits of Disturbance (LOD), and tag trees for removal, trimming or protection. This part of the project will not require heavy equipment and is expected to be complete by February 28, 2022. Following this task, construction activities will begin after the necessary permits are issued by the National Park Service and the District of Columbia government.

The project will address aging and defective sewer pipes extending from Albermarle Street NW to Broad Branch Road NW and will prevent further sewer failures while providing improved water quality in the park and creek.”
