From an email:

“Community Foodworks is pleased to announce that the Columbia Heights Farmers Market and Brookland’s Monroe Street Farmers Market will open this Saturday, April 22.

The Columbia Heights Farmers Market, now entering its seventh season, will bring fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, coffee, meats, eggs, cheese, and prepared food to the Columbia Heights Civic Plaza from 9am to 1pm every Saturday through December. Swing by this Saturday and say hi to your favorite farmer, pick up some tacos or dumplings, and stay for the joyous jams of Lady Hatchet!

Entering its fourth season, Brookland’s Monroe Street Farmers Market will bring neighborhood favorites and a crop of new faces to the Arts Walk and Plaza. You can expect to find fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, pickles, coffee, teas, and prepared food. Opening Day activities are scheduled for every hour of market! Join us for yoga with Bluebird Sky Yoga at 9am, face painting and balloons at 10am, a children’s theater performance by Only Make Believe at 11am, and a Hula Hoop class by Dance Place at 12pm. We hope to see you there!
