From Crisp (Bloomingdale):

“we are donating 10% of our Entire Sales (including our $5 Happy Hour) to N Street Village Shelter for Women.”

From Nido (Woodridge):

“Nido (2214 Rhode Island Avenue NE) will be participating in the international A Day Without A Woman strike that will take place on International Women’s Day, this Wednesday, March 8, 2017.

Nido is a woman-owned business with a majority female staff (only three males on staff), so on Wednesday the restaurant will be run by two male employees as well as male family members and friends that have volunteered to help execute service. They will offer a full bar and a limited menu from 5:30pm-10pm.

The restaurant is encouraging guests to wear red to support the cause. Women will receive 20% off their check to recognize the gender pay gap, and the restaurant will be donating a portion of proceeds to cover their female staff’s hourly wage, and donating surplus proceeds to Planned Parenthood. They will also be accepting additional donations for Planned Parenthood.

The goal of the women’s strike is to bring attention to the issue of equal rights for women across the globe. Women’s March organizers have called for women to take the day off from paid or unpaid labor if possible, avoid shopping for one day (with exceptions for small, women- and minority-owned businesses), and to wear red in solidarity with A Day Without A Woman.

Patrons can make a reservation for Wednesday night online or by phone at 202.627.2815.”

From Pizzeria Paradiso (multiple locations):

“In observance of International Women’s Day and “A Day Without A Woman” Pizzeria Paradiso and Chef/Owner Ruth Gresser will serve half of her food and draft beer menus to symbolically reinforce the impact of a day without women. The reduced menu will be in effect at all Pizzeria Paradiso locations – in Dupont Circle, Georgetown, and Old Town Alexandria – and the restaurant group will donate half of the day’s profits to two women’s organizations – My Sister’s Place and the National Organization for Women.”

From Alta Strada and Conosci (Mt. Vernon Squangle):

“I wanted to let you know that in honor of International Women’s Day, Alta Strada City Vista and Conosci will donate 10% of sales on Wednesday, March 8th to DC’s oldest domestic violence shelter, My Sister’s Place.”

From Hill Country (Chinatown):

“We will be donating 100% of dessert sales to https://womenchefs.org/. We stand proudly behind our General Manager Carrie Westbrook, Assistant General Manager Kalie Adams, Dining Room Manager Kaitlyn Thompson, Kitchen Manager Nancy Serrano and ALL of the women who make this place go!”

and

RareSweets will donate 10% of proceeds from March 8 to DC’s local chapter of Suited for Change, a non-profit organization aimed at providing professional and job-readiness skills in the greater Washington Metropolitan area. RareSweets, located in CityCenter, is owned by pastry chef Meredith Tomason and is operated by a majority female staff.”

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
