This Weekend’s Metro Track Work

“Reconstruction of the Metrorail system will continue over the weekend of February 24-26 with service adjustments on four of six lines. Trains will operate as follows:

Yellow and Green line trains will operate at regular weekend intervals
Red Line trains will operate regular weekend, daytime intervals; trains every 20-30 minutes after 8 p.m.
SafeTrack Surge 12 through Tuesday, February 28: No Blue Line train service. See below for additional service details
Orange and Silver line trains operate every 18 minutes with Silver Line trains between Wiehle-Reston East and Largo Town Center

Red Line
Regular weekend, daytime service; trains every 20-30 minutes after 8:00PM

From system opening until 7:30 p.m., regular Red Line train service will operate.

On Friday and Saturday, trains will operate every 20-25 minutes between 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. with single tracking between Van Ness & Friendship Heights to allow for preventative maintenance. After 9:30 p.m., trains will operate every 30 minutes as a second single tracking is added between Silver Spring & Forest Glen (Friday)/Glenmont (Saturday) to allow for radio and cellular cable installation.

On Sunday after 10 p.m., trains will operate every 20-25 minutes with single tracking between Silver Spring & Forest Glen to allow for radio and cellular cable installation.

Orange Line
Trains every 18 minutes | 7:00AM Saturday through closing Sunday

Single tracking between Cheverly & New Carrollton to allow for rail fastener and stud renewal.

Silver Line
Trains every 18 minutes between Wiehle-Reston & Largo Town Center | 7:00AM Saturday until closing Sunday

Silver Line trains will operate every 18 minutes between Wiehle-Reston East & Largo Town Center to coordinate with work on other lines.

Blue Line
SafeTrack Surge 12 – Line segment shutdown Rosslyn to Pentagon | February 11 through February 28

No Blue Line trains will be in service.

Instead, customers may use the following service options:

Yellow Line Rush+ between Franconia-Springfield & Mt. Vernon Square
Yellow Line between Huntington & Fort Totten
Silver Line between Wiehle-Reston East & Largo Town Center

Arlington Cemetery station will be closed. Free shuttle buses will operate between Pentagon and Arlington Cemetery.

Blue Line customers traveling to/from stations north of National Airport should use Yellow and/or Silver line trains to complete their trip.

Yellow Line
Regular weekend service between Huntington & Fort Totten

Previously scheduled weekend work has been cancelled.

Green Line
Regular weekend service
