A reader reports the Bassoon was stolen around 16th and Monroe St, NW Wednesday afternoon:
“Police reports and insurance claims have been filed. If you happen to notice this unique instrument for sale on Craigslist, eBay, or at a pawn shop in the city, please call MPD. The instrument make and serial number is FOX 601 #34019. When a musician’s instrument is stolen, it’s devastating personally and financially, and bassoons are very expensive. Any help with recovery is much appreciated.
Also an oboe and an English horn from a member of The Marine Band were stolen from cars a week earlier in Columbia Heights. All three are double reed instruments, and typically really expensive so it’s possible there is a connection.”
