End of an Era -After 9 Years Chix Closing Original 11th Street Location

chix

From a press release:

“Chix, which has been open at 2019 11th St NW for 9 years, is closing its original U Street location. Chix is a restaurant concept established in Washington D.C. in 2007 with a commitment to nourish our customers, employees, and communities through the food we serve and the lifestyle we create. The Chix motto is “eat responsibly” because we are a triple bottom line business – focusing on people, planet, and profit. Our food is locally sourced, organic, all natural, prepared fresh on site, and delicious. Our chef-inspired menu focuses on grilled chicken and vegetarian meals with a Latin flavor.

The other two Chix locations – in Thomas Circle and Navy Yard – will remain open. The delivery zone for the Thomas Circle location in downtown will be widened to include ALL of the current customers that have supported Chix over the years.

“We are going to assume the entire delivery zone that 11th street serviced. In fact, we are going to widen our delivery to include parts of Foggy Bottom, and West End, in addition to going as far North as Petworth, and as far East as Bloomingdale,” says owner Lukas Umana. The U Street location will officially close on December 23, 2016. “Most of our employees have been working with us for many years, and we will find a place for everyone at our other locations. We hope we can still reach our fans across the city with our other two stores.” The newly opened Navy Yard location now offers delivery to Capitol Hill and other parts of SE and SW DC.

Chix Navy Yard and Chix Thomas Circle will be open 7 days a week, from 11am-9:30pm, with delivery offered all day every day. Previously the Thomas Circle location was closed on the weekends. “This was not an easy decision,” says Lukas Umana, “we’ve been in the U Street area since 2007, and we experienced immense support and love from the local community. Unfortunately our lease has ended and we had to make a difficult choice.”
