I love this house and have featured it a few times as House of the Day. I came across the listing when I was looking for today’s house porn post but offers were due yesterday. I still wanted to show it for anyone else who’s been curious what’s beyond the fence.

The listing for 1519 P Street, NW says:

“Offers due Tuesday 12:00 PM. “The O House” – A rare offering of one of the most defining homes in Logan Circle. Fully detached 2BR/2.5BA two level home w/ an expansive enclosed front courtyard. Superb location w/ timeless finishes, light-filled + a touch of history. 2-car parking. Less than a block to Whole Foods, CVS, VIDA… Blocks to Dupont Metro! Easy living at its best in a prime location.”

You can see more photos here. The 2 bed/2.5 bath was listed at $1,450,000. What do you think it’ll end up going for?

  • The house is in an amazing location, and the outside rocks, but I hate every single finish they chose!

  • I checked out this house when it was on the market several years ago. It’s tiny but very nice on the inside, and that front courtyard is charming; but there is no back yard at all, and there’s no privacy on the back of the house. I think it was listed for about half that price when I saw it!

  • I Dont Get It

This house was built in 1879 by John Batters, the owner of a grocery store at 13th and T Street NW (now the Whitelaw Market) for $1,000.

  • Tsar of Truxton

Kudos to who ever got a bed up those stairs!

    • It’s so funny that people don’t think about that when buying some of these rowhomes. My current house was the first house I was able to get a king size mattress up the stairwell, and I made sure the stairs in my new place has just as high of an opening just for that purpose.

    • I wonder if the handrails are removable. I had a contractor mention that once and I wish I had done that when I did mine.

Or I could just get a house like the do in Amsterdam and have a pulley on the front……

  • When I first moved to DC, 25 years ago, I remember, at least I thought it was that house, has a plaque that said something along the lines of intergalactic embassy of something. Does anyone else remember that?

  • I think it is $50 to 100k overpriced.

  • It’s already under contract.

  • This is the sweetest house in the city. It’s been expanded since it was on the market several years ago. (A pop back?) It has no back yard, but you get all the privacy you could want in front behind that wall. I’m pretty confident the contract price is higher than the asking price. Open house last weekend looked like the Dupont Circle House Tour.

  • Yowsas. That staircase is a disaster. And the living room looks tiny…yet the kitchen looks huge. I could never stomach paying that much money for that.

  • The brick wall in front provides so much security and privacy its almost worth that exhorbitant price. I don’t even mind that crooked staircase.
    In my dreams though…..
