Another Healthy Way To Cope With Post Election Blues – Bike DC!

a-trail

From WABA:

“Join WABA and at-large D.C. Councilmember Elissa Silverman on Veterans Day for a ride on the newly opened segment of the Anacostia River Trail!

The Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens trail segment was a missing link in a network of 60 miles of trail between the District and Maryland. It connects Benning Road in the District with the Bladensburg Waterfront Park, creating a much more pleasant and safe route for cyclists who commute between Prince George’s County and the District. The trail also provides walkers, bicyclists, and nature lovers access to scenic stretches of the Anacostia River where one can regularly see egrets, eagles, deer, and other wildlife.

The ride will be about 10 miles out and back. We will go at a conversational pace. Please bring your own bicycle and helmet (or plan to use Bikeshare), water and snacks. All are welcome.
Date: November 11, 2016

Time: 11:00 am. The ride will take approximately 2.5 hours
Location: Meet at the bikeshare station at 19th SE and East Capitol St, near the Stadium Armory Metro Station

Calling all bookworms, thrill-seekers, supporters of the arts, and ping-pongers at all skill levels! Sign up for Paddlestar Galactica, the ping-pong tournament supporting 826DC’s youth writing programs.

826DC is a local nonprofit that offers free writing programs, homework help, and publishing opportunities for DC students ages 6-18, in our Columbia Heights writing center and in learning spaces across the city.

Paddlestar Galactica helps keep writing education 100% free and accessible for all of our students! It’s also extremely fun.

This year’s games will be Saturday, April 27th, 1 PM to 4 PM at SPIN DC. It’ll be a chaotic afternoon of ping-pong, costumes, terrible Battlestar Galactica puns, and good cheer. We’d love to have you join us!
