Stabbing Homicide at Emerson and Kansas Update: 17 Year Old Victim.

MPD reported around 8:25pm:

“Stabbing at the intersection of Kansas Avenue/Emerson Street NW . LOF B/F, 5’5-5’6, 17-19,dark pants denim jacket. L/S heading w/b Farragut”

Alan Henney reported:

“u/d PROBABLE HOMICIDE AFTER METROBUS ALTERCATION- Emerson St at Kansas Av NW-DC. Victim is a woman in her 20s. Teenage female suspect fled.”

Update from MPD:

“Today at approximately 8:00 pm two females got into an argument on a Metrobus. Once the bus dropped them off at the corner of Kansas Ave and Emerson St N.W. one of the females stabbed the other in the chest. The victim was transported to the hospital where she died from her injuries. Homicide Detectives and Metro Transit Police are checking for video from the bus. I want to assure the residents of the 4th District that this Homicide is in no way connected to the ones on Kennedy St or Buchanan St. 4D PSA Officers are working closely with our Homicide Detectives to close these cases. I would like to invite each of you to the 4th District Citizens Advisory Council Meeting. 4th District Headquaters 6001 Georgia Ave N.W. this Thursday, October 20th at 7:00pm. Interm Chief Peter Newsham as well as members of the 4th District will be in attendance to address any concerns which you may have.”

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred in the 600 block of Emerson Street, Northwest on Monday, October 17, 2016.

At approximately 8:03 pm, members of the Fourth District responded to a call for a stabbing. Upon arrival, members located a juvenile female suffering from a stab wound. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and commenced lifesaving efforts. The victim was then transported to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 17-year-old Kaelia Minor, of Northwest, DC.”
