  • That home in the pictures is the residence of a “top designer”? Designer of what?

Is that a portrait of Lenin?

I would have to bomb that room to make sure all the crazy was exterminated. WTF is that?

    • Do what you have to do, but please save the portrait of Lenin for me. And the probably custom-made steps to help my yappy little rat-dog get up on my bed.

  • I’m so distracted by all the parrots “perched” around the wall near the mirror – what the what?! So many design choices that I can’t believe they made. Are we sure the listing agent didn’t shoo whatever loony old person lives here out of the room and just start taking random pictures?

  • Imagine being the agent telling the seller that this place needs to be staged.

  • This decor gives me anxiety. Everything is unnecessarily distracting, even to the marble floors.

  • The decor isn’t my taste, but as to whether it’s a GDON? Not even close–look at that condo fee. But don’t worry, in a year and a half, you’ll pay less (still way too much).

    • Are you predicting a crash? Because I think this is one of those buildings where wealthy people like to live, where stuff goes for a much higher price than you think it should.

    • It’s a large unit, esp. for a 2/2, in classic best address building and may get sold for asking, but it may take awhile……the new coffered ceilings were a mistake–obvious attempt at being modern and updating the lighting (which would have been chandeliers supplemented by floor and desk lamps) but looks odd, and the really busy decorating. My guess is that real estate agent probably made some suggestions for decluttering but the owner wouldn’t hear of it.

      • It has beautiful bones and the location can’t be beat. $1.6m doesn’t seem outside the realm of reasonableness, but I just can’t get past that condo fee.

    • Exactly. Those crazy patterned marble(?) floors, the rugs, the wallpaper… I was so relieved to see that one (?) bathroom with plain white tile and nothing to make one dizzy.

  • can anyone explain why places have low mortgage/rent and enormous condo fees like this? The end monthly price is probably in line for a 2bed/2.5bath in that area, but I don’t understand how that pricing structure happens or for what purpose (if intentional)?

    • Lots of reasons: underlying mortgages (such as for previous major repairs to the building), taxes, utilities etc. For reasons like mortgages and taxes, you can deduct that portion of the condo fee from your federal taxes.

  • These are dead parrots! These parrots have ceased to exist! These are ex-parrots…
