Shooting Homicide at 1:47am in Ivy City

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the 900 block of Mount Olivet Road, Northeast on Wednesday, August 10, 2016.

At approximately 1:47 am, members of the Fifth District heard the sound of a single gunshot in the area of Mount Olivet Road and New York Avenue, Northeast and responded to the rear of the location. Upon arrival on the scene, members located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim exhibited no signs consistent with life and remained on the scene.

The decedent has not been identified.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.”

    Pretty sure this was in the alley behind that rundown small stretch of rowhouses there, which is a drug hotspot. Police/Ambulances respond to calls here just about daily, sometimes multiple times a day. Lots of verbal fights out front as well.

  • This is where I witnessed 6 or more bikes being dropped off by a construction truck and brought into a house. Bad news over there.

    Shuld raise the rents of Ivy City or at least justify the outrageous prices of this metro cut-off developer’s neighborhood. Urban violence chic anyone? Get all the dangers of 14th st circa 2005 plus the rents of 14th street circa 2016.
