Your Afternoon Animal Fix

If you have any animal/pet photos you’d like to share please send an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say the name of your pet and your neighborhood. Your photos will go into the queue (usually 2 weeks wait) and will be posted in the order I receive them. If you’ve already entered your pet and would like to do so again – that’s no problem – just space the entries out a bit. Please try to send horizontal photos 640×480 (medium size on your iphone) if possible. If you’re not using an iphone any size is fine.

  • Stan reminds me of my tuxedo Milo who had a similar spot. Snif.

  • Cat on a leash!! This tickles me immensely.

    • Once my cat got used to the idea that we would go and sit in the back yard if he let me put the harness on him, he would go directly to the door whenever I picked up the harness, and position himself so that it would be easy for me to put it on. The back yard adventure was basically one lap around the tree, checking out the catnip, picking a place to sit, either on the grass or on a chair preferably with a cushion, and then just sitting back, listening to the birds and watching the squirrels. Sometimes he would get up and do another lap around the yard. Don’t know what he would have thought about the rabbits that seem to have invaded the area. I liked to use a bright colored leash so that if I wasn’t watching him constantly, I could easily locate him when he moved around. ANd like I said, he tended to take it easy.

    • I’d love to hear how other folks got their cat to wear a harness! Our girl is very adventurous and likes exploring so we presume she’d love to get outside, but when we put a harness on her, she just tries to bite it.

      • It was quite some time ago, but as I remember it, I got him used to it in stages. First just putting it on loosely without buckling anything, and taking it off a few minutes later. Probably with a treat. But it didn’t take very long before he accepted it, and after he got to enjoy exploring and sitting in the back yard, he would get excited whenever I walked over to where I kept the harness. With my first cat, IIRC, it was harder to get him used to using the harness, probably because with that cat, his former owner and I both let him roam around the back yard without a leash, but supervised. So shifting to the with harness and leash only system, took some adjusting, but after he understood the rules, he accepted it.

  • What kind of harness is on Maximus? I want to try taking my kitty to the Arboretum now that we live near there. Thanks!
