Your Afternoon Animal Fix

If you have any animal/pet photos you’d like to share please send an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say the name of your pet and your neighborhood. Your photos will go into the queue (usually 2 weeks wait) and will be posted in the order I receive them. If you’ve already entered your pet and would like to do so again – that’s no problem – just space the entries out a bit. Please try to send horizontal photos 640×480 (medium size on your iphone) if possible. If you’re not using an iphone any size is fine.

Dylan

“Together — 17 years, 14 homes, 2 brothers, 3 step sisters, countless human friends and family members, a bottomless pit of secrets and catnip – Dylan, you were my best buddy through all of my ups and downs, accomplishments and failures, dreams and nightmares. I will miss you every day and remember your loyalty and tolerance as you watched me grow up and I watched you grow old. RIP my dear sweet boy. I love you and I’ll see you on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge.

[If your pet is ready to transition and you’d like to do an at-home euthanasia, Lap of Love is a wonderful organization to help you during this difficult time. Dr. Nora came to our home and was very patient and compassionate as we helped Dylan cross the threshold.]”

Highly second the recommendation for Lap of Love. My sweet cat Pammy passed away peacefully with them this year. She had breast cancer that spread and caused a stroke. It was time. They were so compassionate and she was so relaxed during the whole process that she even ate cream cheese from my hand before she passed.

  • oh my goodness. The caption on Dylan’s sweet picture has me crying at my desk. I’m so sorry for your loss!

    • Same! I’m so sorry for your loss, Dylan’s human. You gave him a wonderful life.

    • Thank you. I am truly heartbroken without my bud.

      • RIP Dylan. I’ve had to say goodbye to my share of pets over the years and each one still breaks my heart.

      • What a nice tribute to your sweet loyal Dylan. I have an older cat who has become blind and has a hard time getting around. It’s difficult to watch them get older but it’s an honor to get to provide them with a good home. Thank you for sharing & reminding me about that rainbow bridge! I wish you all the best.

      • @HoodCat, I lost my of many years almost a year ago, and I was heartbroken (still am, it never really goes away). But there is some good news – remembering Dylan will never fail to make you smile. Case in point: Facebook reminded me today that on this day two years ago, my cat threw up in my purse. IN MY PURSE! It was totally retaliation, too, because I had just sprayed him with a spray bottle in an unsuccessful attempt to train him not to claw the arms of the sofa. The idea that I thought I could train a 12-year old cat at all was pretty laughable, and I kind of deserved the vomit.

      • Dylan sounds like a lovely companion. I am glad you two had each other for so long.

    • Same here! Dylan was obviously so well-loved.

    • yeah, I definitely welled up! stupid tears! What a wonderful friendship, I’m so sorry for your loss!

    • Crying over here too. What a beautiful tribute to your best bud. RIP Dylan, and may 17 years of great memories help your humans get through this tough time!

    • Man, it got dusty in here. I’m sorry for your loss.

  • My heart sincerely goes out to your people Dylan. I lost my 17 year old cat Alyosha in January and my 13 year old still a kitten Koshka last month so I know how hard this time is. You will be in my heart and thoughts. I can see how much you were loved. RIP cutie.
