Today’s Rental is “perfect for a couple or a single person looking for a lot of space”

inside

This rental is located at 1334 Belmont St, NW. The listing says:

“After less than three months in this beautiful apartment, my fiance and I are relocating to the west coast for a job opportunity. But our loss can be your gain! Our 14th/U St. area 1 BR is perfect for a couple or a single person looking for a lot of space. Located on the first floor of a boutique condo building, it comes with:

-A large, private patio
-A working gas fireplace
-Brand new hardwood floors (our landlord replaced them right before we moved in)
-Vaulted ceilings in the living room
-A large kitchen with stainless steel appliances, a dishwasher, and a gas range
-Washer/dryer in unit
-4 closets (including a walk-in in the bedroom).

It’s also pet-friendly!

The location is unbeatable – a 5 minute walk from the U St. metro, 3 grocery stores, tons of gyms and boutique fitness studios, a dozen bus lines, and the 14th and U St. corridors (which include countless bars, restaurants, and shops).

We’ve loved living here and are very sad to leave this place. If you are interested or want more information, please let us know! We’d like someone to move in during January but are flexible on the exact date. If necessary, we may be able to provide partial furnishings for the apartment.”

  • did i miss the sq footage? i think this is a really good deal, regardless.

there doesn’t appear to be much natural light, but the outdoor space might balance that out for me, honestly. and the kitchen <3

  • The patio looks like a tarted-up prison yard. Is the desire to cook meat over fire that strong? I’d rather have a parking space than this “amenity”.

Yes. The desire to grill is that strong in some. I’d take the outdoor living space over a parking space!

      • It’s also useful for pet owners, smokers, those who throw parties, and gardeners, to name a few. This isn’t the best outdoor space in the world, and I’d definitely do something different with it, but I’d rather have it than a parking space.

      • I agree that outdoor space is desirable – but some of the decisions people make are fascinating. This outdoor space couldn’t be more “cold”…

As for the price, it’s a matter of supply and demand. This area is a competitive rental market. However, this apartment looks slightly below grade – a 1 bedroom of this nature should NOT be priced at $2400, even if it’s simply ground level in an apartment building. You can get a nice 1 bedroom for around $2,000 in this area. Just would take some patience/scouring.

Why is there a lamp plugged in on the outdoor patio? That seems like a really poor idea.
