Sweetest Holiday Transom

Thanks to a reader for sending one of my favorites from Shaw:

“Saw this on my walk to work this morning – reminded me of the beautiful Christmas decorations in Colonial Williamsburg. Someone spent a lot of time on this!”

  • I’m pretty sure that’s the home of the monsignor at the Immaculate Conception church, who’s a lovely guy. If I’m not mistaken, that decoration has been there for months. I’m think I saw it this summer!

Yayyy I love these! I grew up for a while in Williamsburg so my mom always made these even when we moved to Annapolis. We used to make her keep it up until the fruit rotted and fell off, and if you got hit in the head by a fruit you had to empty the dishwasher for a week. 🙂

  • I love this. I am not crafty at all. Anyone know where I could buy something like this?

    • The Williamsburg Marketplace website has holiday wreaths and garlands in the same style as this piece. They also sell the wooden forms with the nails in them as well as faux laurel leaves (the ones above are real) if you were feeling bold and wanted to give it a try.

  • I heard that a pineapple in front of a house is a signifies swingers. Anyone else ever heard that?
