From an email:

“Please join us for Oxfam America’s Hunger Banquet on Wednesday, November 18, 2015.

As the holiday season begins with the consumerism and overeating of Thanksgiving, we invite you to an alternative dining event to help you see hunger and inequality in a whole new way. The Oxfam America Hunger Banquet is nothing like your typical banquet dinner; it is an experiential event where your meal will be determined by the luck of the draw. Are you feeling lucky?

The Banquet will take place between 6 and 8pm on November 18th at the Wonder Bread Factory in Shaw (641 S St NW) and WUSA9’s Delia Gonçalves and WAMU’s Pat Brogan will lead the participants through the program.

Oxfam America is a global organization working to right the wrongs of poverty, hunger, and injustice around the world. For more than 40 years, Oxfam America Hunger Banquets have been changing the way people think about global hunger, one plate at a time. As we prepare to celebrate the abundance of food this holiday season, join us and spend an evening in someone else’s shoes. You may never see things the same way. Note that the Hunger Banquet is free and we expect it to fill up fast, so please RSVP!
