Cloak & Dagger Speakeasy and Lounge Opens on U Street

cloak dagger
1359 U Street, NW

I noticed last night that Cloak & Dagger had opened in the former Patty Boom Boom space on U Street. Hours are listed as:

Thursday 10pm – 2am
Friday 10pm – 3am
Saturday 10pm – 3am

Back in February we learned:

““So in a nut shell Cloak & Dagger’s concept will pay homage to DC’s history of elusive spies, espionage and underground secret society. A red telephone booth (London style sorta like the Dr. Who) will be the disguised entrance way into the bar/lounge. Covert rooms leading to different areas (I.e. the entrance, VIP room, DJ booth, etc) of Cloak & Dagger will provide a fun and classy Victorian style old school ambiance.

The 1st floor will be more of a speakeasy type of bar. A secret book shelf door will lead into this bar where it will be set up more as a mixology concept with seasonal drink menu specials.

2nd floor will more of the “club” where we will have the DJ’s set up for play to the crowd. The 3rd level mezzanine will be more for the bottle service crowd who prefer to keep it more chill with their group of friends.”

Calling all bookworms, thrill-seekers, supporters of the arts, and ping-pongers at all skill levels! Sign up for Paddlestar Galactica, the ping-pong tournament supporting 826DC’s youth writing programs.

826DC is a local nonprofit that offers free writing programs, homework help, and publishing opportunities for DC students ages 6-18, in our Columbia Heights writing center and in learning spaces across the city.

Paddlestar Galactica helps keep writing education 100% free and accessible for all of our students! It’s also extremely fun.

This year’s games will be Saturday, April 27th, 1 PM to 4 PM at SPIN DC. It’ll be a chaotic afternoon of ping-pong, costumes, terrible Battlestar Galactica puns, and good cheer. We’d love to have you join us!
